Legendary surf photographer, Jeff Divine, sent us a few photos from his archives to put inside Issue 002. The 12 page feature is an obvious standout in the issue, one that, when flipping through the pages, causes people to stop and stare. Jeff’s photos are one of everyone’s favorite parts of Issue 002.
In 1965, a guy named Jeff Divine bought himself a camera. With it, he began taking photos of his friends surfing, which then led to a staff position at Surfer when he was just 21. In the 70s, Jeff began taking countless trips around the world, documenting everything along the way and not long after was being described as one of the best surf photographers around. By the early 80s, he was the Photo Editor at Surfer—a position he held for 17 years before becoming the Photo Editor at Surfer’s Journal. Phew. It’s quite a resume. And as you can imagine, after taking photo after photo of everything and everyone throughout the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and whatever you call the decades after 2000, he’s got a hell of a lot to show for it. Jeff dug into his archives for us and pulled out a few gems from the 70s and 80s. Now get to time traveling.
